Te Ara Tapuwae o te Whare Pāremata (The Trodden Pathway of Parliament) is a Māori history tour of Parliament, starting with early interactions between Māori & Pākehā (Europeans), and reflecting on key people and events that have since shaped Parliament and the development of New Zealand's electoral system.
This tour tells the story of Māori involvement, participation, and influence in Parliament.
Te Ara Tapuwae presents a unique look at iconic places in Parliament such as the original Matangireia room and the Māori Affairs Select Committee Room, and various significant taonga from the Parliament collection.
This tour generally lasts around 90 minutes, although this can be tailored to your group.
Te Ara Tapuwae o te Whare Pāremata is delivered in English for public visits once per month, which can be booked below. We are also able to deliver this as a private tour in either English or Te Reo Māori, at a date and time that suits you.
